What is your Hays story?

In early 2010, I started at Hays Specialist Recruitment as a senior consultant Engineering, after which I was promoted to Teamlead. What I enjoyed most was building and supporting my own team. Lead by Example, that is very important in a role as manager, which gives you the feeling that you are contributing to the organisation and growing as an individual.

The development I went through myself by following training courses both nationally and internationally is a big plus.

After a period of 6 years I started looking internally for the next step and found it with Hays Talent Solutions as recruitment manager, a different approach to commercial recruitment because I work internally at the client and have direct contact with the hiring managers. In a role like this I'm even more involved in client recruitment, labour market communication but also projects like procurement. It gives new insights into how a corporate environment works and what kind of impact you can make for both the client and the candidates.

The nice thing about working at Hays is that you can develop yourself in different functions. This does not only have to be in the area of management, but also in the content of your profession. Express your ambition at Hays, pursue it and you will get the opportunities you create.

What do you like most about your current job?

In my current role, I enjoy stakeholder management to various functions. This goes at every level from line manager to the highest level in the organisation. Managing expectations, advising the customer and discussing this with each other to make the cooperation as optimal as possible. Making an impact in an organisation like this is what I really enjoy.

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

There are many! Work-related of course are the successes (big and small) that you can achieve in your job. But also the Hays trips and incentives are memorable. The annual boat trip through the canals or the Hays Annual Conference. You are encouraged to be successful, and rewarded for it. There's always room for fun in addition to the hard work.

What tips can you share with people who want to enter the world of recruitment?

You must really enjoy 'chasing' your business, be proactive and result oriented. Qualitative input creates qualitative output and that's what we strive for at Hays. There is no specific training for recruitment, but the combination of factors you possess as a person should match the expectations of recruitment.
