What is your Hays story?

I started as an intern and later returned to Hays to graduate in my current Finance & Accounting team. My thesis was also used as an action plan for consultancy within the Finance market. I was given the opportunity to develop myself further as a junior consultant into a specialist and into the position I am in now: business section manager. This is what I like about working at Hays: when you contribute something concrete, it is appreciated.

What do you like most about your current job?

Where my career has been about developing myself in the first place, becoming stronger as a specialist in my field and working hard for my promotions, my current job is also about developing my team. Helping them further as a specialist, to the next promotion and of course being an essential part of the company results. The following applies here: state your ambitions, make them quantifiable and make them happen, then you will get the space. The freedom to organise time and activities myself is something I have always enjoyed, as are the agreements you can make with clients and candidates that benefit the collaboration.

Which Hays moment will you never forget?

The moment I was able to change from consultant to senior consultant, I was really close. Because I was able to make good agreement with one of my clients, I was able to provide the client with a new employee in good time and as such also achieve my goals on time.

Then, of course, there is the Hays Annual Conference. That is always memorable. All the more so because you get to know your colleagues in a different way and this connects us all.

What tips can you share with people who want to enter the world of recruitment?

Everything depends on your own ambition, where do you want to stand and develop towards. Express this, make it quantifiable and keep your promises. It is a challenging role that is never the same, be aware of this. But objectives are clearly communicated, so you are always the owner of your own success. Perseverance is very important, your manager knows the path and will guide you.
